Major Moves Comedy is back at Cresta

Major Moves Comedy is back with yet another blockbuster rib cracking lineup for their monthly event this March. The First Friday Comedy event promises fireworks from both local and international comedians at Cresta President Hotel. The audience will be treated to fresh material from a variety of comics when take to the stage on Friday the 4 th of March.

The stellar lineup that has resident host Onkgopotse ‘Mdala Ka Tjeludo’ Mugende will feature fresh comedy from Chibwe Katebe from Zambia, Queen of comedy Malebogo ‘Lebo English’ Lekgowa, Maatla Ephraim Basha, Thapelo Malani, Augustus Phillemon and Shaka Rraagobaitshasang. The event will also bring upcoming comedians to the forefront as new comedians will be introduced and given a chance to share stage with these established acts.

Events coordinator for Major Moves Comedy Mr Gaolathe Kediemetse said, “Since we introduced the monthly shows last year, we have had promising support and have explored ways of getting Botswana talent to shine internationally. Maatla Ephraim Basha and Brooks just returned from performing in Lesotho. With these monthly events we also build relations and exchange talent with other countries in our quest to create a sustainable market and continual artist development.”

Chibwe is one of the “Veteran” stand up comedians in Zambia. He has hosted a number of Comedy TV shows and featured on Best TV series such as Loose Ends (ZNBC), Shorty Kulture(Muvi TV), Fever (Zambezi Magic), Mungoma (Zambezi Magic), Butuku (ZNBC). He is also a Comedy Mentor who has trained and mentored new and young talents. Chibwe is an adjudicator in the South African Comedy awards, and has perform in Kenya, Namibia, South Africa, Uganda and Zimbabwe. He is an award-winning standup comedian, whose stock has been rising and he delivers outstanding performances.

We want to develop and contribute positively to lives of the comedians so that they can be able to make a living off comedy like elsewhere in the world”, added Mr Kediemetse.
