Orange Botswana Celebrates 25 Years

Orange Botswana is privileged to serve as one of the pioneering forces in Botswana’s telecommunications sector, today commemorating the 25th anniversary of the brand, a quarter-century of innovation, connectivity, and positive impact in the lives of Batswana. This was the sentiment and indeed commitment shared as Orange Botswana welcomed key stakeholders for a glittering 25th anniversary gala dinner on the 28th of November 2023 in Gaborone.

In attendance were captains of industry from across Botswana, commemorating the occasion with valued clients, partners, executives, and the Board of Orange Botswana. Also, in attendance to mark the momentous occasion was Orange Middle East & Africa Deputy CEO, Mr. Brelotte Ba, as well as the guest of honour for the evening, the Minister of Communications, Knowledge & Technology, Honourable Thulaganyo Merafe Segokgo.

Notable milestones in this period include but are not limited to; the birth of Orange Money which has made a strong push for financial inclusion and continues to improve economic and social conditions of Batswana. The CSR arm of the business, Orange Foundation has impacted multiple lives across 76 primary schools through the Digital School Programme and opened a total of 8 Women’s Digital Centres across the country. The Orange Digital Center is key to their efforts to drive ICT skills and knowledge as well as innovation and digital technology by offering young minds the opportunity to gain qualifications in digital technology and entrepreneurship for free.  Similarly, the Orange Social Venture Prize jumpstarts techpreneurs’s ICT start-ups with 13 winners supported to date such as Mohiri Job Alerts, Atlega Mobile Education and, most recently, the Aga Sure App.

Orange Botswana prides itself in being the first-being the first provider to introduce 3G, 4G, 4G+ and subsequently 5G in Botswana while landmark sponsorships have birthed platforms like the Orange FA Cup and Orange Phikwe Marathon while brand ambassadorship deal with athlete Letsile Tebogo has created synonymity with a beloved public figure. Looking ahead, the future is bright for Orange Botswana, its customers and Botswana at large as they launched the Orange Data Center and super app, the Max it as part of their 25th year commemorations.
