Business Leaders Gather for Access Bank’s Global Markets Forum to Navigate Foreign Exchange Shifts and Maximise the Pula

Access Bank Botswana successfully hosted its flagship Global Markets event under the theme “The Exchange: Making the Most of Your Pula”, on October 15, drawing Senior Business Executives, Economists, and Financial Practitioners for an in-depth discussion on Botswana’s evolving foreign exchange (FX) landscape.

The event came at a crucial time following recent movements in FX policy and the broader economic shifts affecting the value of the Pula. Through a blend of expert insights and interactive sessions, the Exchange Event event aims to help businesses understand market developments and identify strategies to manage currency risks while maximising opportunity.

Sheperd Aisam, Managing Director of Access Bank Botswana, said, “This forum was a reminder that every Pula carries a story of effort, resilience, and aspiration. At Access Bank, we see our role not only as financiers but as partners who help clients make sense of changing markets. Conversations like this matter, because they connect policy to people and numbers to livelihoods. When our clients succeed, the ripple effects extend across families, communities, and the economy.”

Throughout the morning, Access Bank’s Global Markets specialists unpacked recent economic developments, including the implications of the Pula’s devaluation, the role of diversification in currency management, and practical steps companies can take to protect margins amid volatility.

Shewauya Charumbira, Acting Head of Global Markets and Treasury at Access Bank Botswana, noted, “Foreign exchange plays a pivotal role in the health of every business. This event provided a space for open dialogue and real solutions. Our Zero-Commission FX for Companies showcases our commitment to offering practical, value-driven services that empower our clients to compete regionally and globally.”

The event also reinforced Access Bank’s continued focus on thought leadership, relationship building, and long-term profitability. Participants praised the Bank’s proactive approach to addressing client needs in the FX space, as well as its ability to provide relevant, data-driven insights that support informed business decisions.
