BIUST launches entrepreneurship mentorship sessions

The Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST) has launched the Mentorship in Action for Startup Acceleration (MASA) Innovation Mentorship Sessions, a groundbreaking initiative designed to nurture innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship among students, researchers, and postdoctoral fellows.

During the launch, Acting Vice Chancellor Professor Elisha Shemang welcomed the partners to BIUST and reaffirmed the University’s commitment to producing knowledge workers who will drive Botswana’s transformation into a knowledge-based economy.

Modelled after the world-renowned MIT Sandbox (USA) and UM6P Explorer (Morocco) programmes, MASA Innovation brings together global expertise and local talent to create impactful solutions in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Agriculture, Healthcare, and FinTech.

Funded by the Government of Botswana through the Ministry of Trade and Entrepreneurship, and supported by MIT and UM6P, the programme contributes to Botswana’s Vision 2036 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, promoting quality education, innovation, decent work, and strong global partnerships. BIUST continues to lead in science, technology, and innovation, turning ideas into action and vision into impact. (Story and photos by BIUST)
