The annual Botswana Consumer Fair—the country’s premier fair—is coming back this month with organisers launching the event during a media briefing recently.

Officials at Fairground Holdings, which is hosting the event, announced that the 19th show will take place from 24–30 August 2026.

This year’s Fair promises an even bigger experience with business, shopping, networking, family entertainment and the exciting debut of the Taste & Sip Village—a vibrant lifestyle destination bringing together food, music and entertainment, said the company.

Last week Thursday, Fairground Holdings officially launched the 19th Botswana Consumer Fair during a Press Conference, marking the beginning of the countdown to Botswana’s premier consumer and business exhibition.

Fairground Holdings CEO, Gorata Gabaraane, highlighted that the event has over the past 18 editions established itself as Botswana’s leading consumer exhibition attracting over 36,000 visitors and hosting over 550 exhibition stalls annually.

“It remains a platform where business meets opportunity, where entrepreneurs connect and market, where innovation is showcased and where consumers experience the very best of what Botswana has to offer,” she told the media briefing.

Gabaraane noted that this year’s theme is ‘Showcasing Botswana in full colour’ which is both a celebration and an invitation. “It is a celebration of Botswana’s diversity, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. It is a celebration of our businesses, our culture, out tourism, our food, our innovation and our people,” she said at the launch.

“And mostly importantly it is an invitation for every Motswana to experience Botswana through its products, services, ideas, talent and enterprise. Visitors can look forward to a dynamic and engaging programme that combines business, networking, showcasing, shopping, entertainment, and family experience.”

According to the CEO, the Botswana Consumer Fair is not only about exhibition and fairs, but also creating opportunities for local businesses. “One of the ways in which Fairground Holdings contributes to citizen economic empowerment is through procurement of goods and services that are required to deliver the event of this magnitude.

“This year alone we have engaged and empowered approximately 20 citizen owned businesses through the procurement of services ranging from branding, deco, exhibition infrastructure, logistics, security, cleaning, printing, entertainment and a variety of other special services.

“For us the impact of the Fair begins long before the gates open. It begins with ensuring that local businesses participate meaningfully in delivering this event itself. We have also continued to support sectors that contribute significantly to Botswana’s economy.”

She said after recognising the important role tourism plays in national development, Fairground Holdings has worked closely with tourism enterprises by offering them preferential exhibition rates to encourage greater participation.

“We believe that providing businesses with accessible platforms to market their products and services is one practical way of strengthening the sectors of the economy.”

The guest of honour for the official opening ceremony of the 19th Botswana Consumer Fair is Group Managing Director and CEO of Sefalana Holding Company Limited, Chandra Chauhan.
