DUMELA CREATIVE STOCK RETURNS TO CONNECT AFRICAN CREATIVES WITH GLOBAL MARKETS

Dumela Creative Stock, the digital marketplace created to connect African creative content with audiences and markets around the world, is returning with a renewed commitment to supporting Botswana’s growing creative economy and giving local creatives greater access to digital markets.

Originally launched in Botswana as a platform for photographers, videographers and sound creators, Dumela Creative Stock was established in response to a clear gap in the market: the difficulty of finding authentic, relatable African creative content for advertising, media, film and other commercial applications. The platform was designed not only to provide access to locally relevant content, but also to create opportunities for creators to generate income from their intellectual property.

The platform’s original vision was to make it easier for creatives to “create, engage and earn”, while helping African creative work reach international audiences.

Today, Dumela Creative Stock is returning at a time when Botswana is increasingly recognising the importance of its creative industries as contributors to economic diversification, entrepreneurship and employment.

According to co-founder Itumeleng Garebatshabe, the vision behind Dumela has always extended beyond creating another online content library.

“Dumela was never intended to simply be a place where people download pictures, videos or audio. The bigger vision has always been to create a connection between the African creative and the market. We want our creatives to stop thinking only about where their work can be seen in Botswana and start thinking about where their work can go in Africa and the world.”

Garebatshabe previously explained during the platform’s original launch that the intention was to make the process simple for creatives, allowing them to focus on what they do best while the platform facilitated the commercial side of connecting their work with buyers.

That vision remains central to Dumela Creative Stock’s return.

The platform currently provides access to creative assets including photographs, videos, audio, vectors and other creative works, with options designed for both buyers and creators.

The return of Dumela is therefore not simply a relaunch of a website. It is a renewed statement of intent: Botswana and Africa have creative talent capable of competing beyond their borders, and that talent needs the platforms, markets and digital infrastructure to reach the world.

As Dumela Creative Stock reconnects with photographers, filmmakers, designers, sound creators and other creative professionals, the platform is inviting creators to take ownership of their intellectual property, make their work discoverable and explore new commercial opportunities.

“We believe the next stage of Botswana’s creative economy will not only be about producing great work. It will be about ensuring that great work can find markets,” Garebatshabe said. “We want Dumela to be part of that bridge — from the creator, to Botswana, to Africa, and ultimately to the world.”

Dumela Creative Stock returns with a simple philosophy that remains at the heart of the platform:

You Create. We Facilitate. You Engage.
